Structured codes for Google Classroom
Designed a coding system and teaching-load tables for creating and checking Google Classroom classes.
Context
At Yerevan Haybusak University, we needed to connect teaching loads to the university structure and Google Classroom classes. I designed YHUHCS, a hierarchical coding system, and the tables used to collect teaching-load information.
My contribution
The hierarchy code describes a person’s place in a particular version of the university structure. CL Cod combines that version and teacher code with programme codes, year of study, semester, academic year, and study format.
I defined the data fields and coding logic. ChatGPT helped prepare the formulas in Google Sheets. Institute staff supplied the source data, while my colleague and I helped coordinators manage the process.
Workflow
CL Cod was calculated automatically. The team used it when manually creating and checking classes, entering the full subject title as the class name and the code in the Section field.
The generated code helped identify data entry errors. Academic staff checked the teaching content, and each class’s status was recorded after it had been checked.
Outcome
The team used the generated codes to create and check Classroom classes manually.
